Questions for analysis:
What are the total sales per year of all 45 stores combined?
Are sales by the unemployment rate?
What are the total sales per month for the last 3 years?
Key Insights
The worst financial years for Walmart were 2012, 2013, 2016, 2021, and 2022.
The best financial years for Walmart were 2015 and 2017.
Sales are not affected by the unemployment rate.
Total Sales Per Year
Sales decreased from $447M in 2011 to $324M in 2012.
Sales skyrocketed from $326M in 2013 to $630M in 2015.
Sales plummeted to $253M in 2016 from $630M in 2015.
Sales were also at an all-time low in 2021, likely due to the pandemic.
Are Sales Affected By The Unemployment Rate?
From looking at the visualization, there seems to be no correlation between sales and the unemployment rate.
So sales are not affected by the unemployment rate.
Total Sales Per Month For The Last 3 Years
In 2020, sales were higher in the summer months and decreased later in the year.
In 2021, sales were higher at the beginning of the year, then likely due to the pandemic, they decreased.
In 2022, sales were around a similar range until October, then they plummeted in November and December.
